Spring Concert – NEW DATE!!!

The 2012 Spring Concert has been rescheduled to Tuesday, May 15.

Please plan accordingly. Students, if you have jobs, please request this night off.

Everybody has been working very hard to prepare and it should be a great show. Now we have a little more time to get it even better!

Our 7th and 8th Graders on Channel 5

In case anyone missed it, here’s a link to Channel 5′s news story on our 7th-8th grade Future City Champions!

Congratulations to all the students! Good luck in D.C.!

Christmas Concert – congratulations!

Congratulations to everyone for a great job at the Christmas Concert! It was a lot of fun to be on a “real” stage” in a “real” hall, and that seemed to bring the best out in all the students. They are all to be commended for their hard work!

Midterm grades for the 7/8 gr Choir and the HS Choir are now posted and available. If you cannot access them through your account, please let the school office know.

Now we’ll start to look ahead to Holy Week and the Spring Concert!

God bless you all!

Midterm Exam grades

The Midterm Exam grade for students in choir is based upon their preparation and performance in the Christmas concert. Because report cards will be distributed at the Parent-Teacher meeting next Monday, and because the date of the concert has been postponed until Thursday, the report cards will not have Midterm Exam grades for my choir classes. I will submit these grades after the concert. If you would like to know your student’s grade, please contact me or the school office the week following the concert.

Thank you, and God bless you.

Christmas pageant date

As noted in Sunday’s bulletin, the Christmas pageant this year will be Thursday, January 19 at 7:00 pm. The pageant will combine our Christmas concert with the Christmas play. The students have been working hard to prepare and they are looking forward to demonstrating what they have accomplished.

As a reminder: attendance at the concert is mandatory for all students enrolled in choir. Their Midterm Exam grade is based upon their preparation for and performance at the concert. If a student is unable to attend or if you have any questions, please contact me or Mr. Birch as soon as possible.

Thank you and God bless you as we continue to celebrate Our Lord’s birth!

Music for “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”

For the 7th/8th grade girls who are singing “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” here are some files to help you practice.

Here is the sheet music (without the words).

Here are some sound files to help you:

  • All parts sounding the same (tenor up high)
  • Soprano line louder than the rest
  • Alto line louder than the rest
  • Tenor line (up high) louder than the rest

Let me know if you have any questions.

New school year!

The new school year is about to begin! I’m looking forward to working with our 7-12 grade students in choir to make this a fun and productive year for all.

You may access more detailed information about the choir classes, both 7-8 grade and High School, by clicking on the “Choir” tab on my website at icalatin.wordpress.com.

I have also posted a more detailed calendar of events for our choir classes, including High Masses and Concerts, on the Choir page. You may also access the calendar here. If you use Google Calendars (as most Android smartphones do, I believe), you can add this calendar to your system by clicking on the + sign at the bottom right-hand corner of the calendar. As events are changed or added, they will automatically be updated in your system.

Remember, you can always use the “Contact Me” tab on my homepage to send me an e-mail.

Enjoy what is left of the summer, and I look forward to seeing your students next week!
